COMMUNICATION INFORMATION SYSTEMS BRANCH

BACKGROUND

The newly created Communication Information Systems Branch is responsible for the formulation of policies relating to communications, electronic and radar maintenance, information technology as well as space technology needs of the Nigerian Air Force as well as their maintenance.


Directorates under the Communication Information Systems Branch
  • Directorate of Communications

    The Directorate of Communications is responsible for initiating and monitoring the implementation of all ground electronics maintenance policies in the NAF. It is also to liaise with the Ministry of Communications Technology and other relevant agencies for the procurement of frequencies and spectrum management for NAF operations. It is headed by a regular officer of the Communications specialty with an established rank of Air Commodore (Air Cdre).

  • Directorate of Radar

    The Directorate of Radar (D Radar) is responsible for initiating and monitoring the implementation of policies relating to all radar and navigational aids (NAVAIDS) in the NAF. It also liaises with the NADC to optimize the utilization of the TRACON project and other air defence related matters for the Service. It is headed by a regular officer of the Radar specialty with an established rank of Air Commodore (Air Cdre).

  • Directorate of Information Technology

    The Directorate of information Technology (DIT) is responsible for IT policy formulation and application in the NAF. The Directorate is headed by an officer of the IT specialty with an established rank of Air Commodore (Air Cdre).

  • Directorate of Space Technology

    The Directorate of Space Technology (D Space Tech) is responsible for formulating policies on NAF utilization of space resources. Additionally, the directorate formulates strategies on the implementation of defence aspects of the National Space Policy program as it relates to the NAF. The Directorate is to be headed by a regular officer of the Space Technology specialty with an established rank of Air Commodore (Air Cdre).
