BACKGROUND

1. Air Vice Marshal Pius Oahimire was born on 3 February 1966. He was commissioned pilot officer in the Nigerian Air Force on 19 September 1992 and rose to his current rank in September 2019. Oahimire is an aircraft maintenance engineer and type-rated on 3 Nigerian Air Force aircraft, including the C130H aircraft. The senior officer holds MSc in National Security and War Studies. Earlier, as a cadet he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna. He has a Postgraduate Certificate in Avionics from the Air Force Institute of Technology Kaduna, Nigeria.

COURSES ATTENDED

2. The senior officer has attended several military and professional courses. These include the Junior and Senior Staff Courses at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Nigeria. He attended the Logistics Management Course at the Nigerian Army College of Logistics, Lagos and the Ground Safety Officers Course, Pakistan Air Force Karachi. He equally attended the National Security and War Studies course from the National Defence University, Islamabad, Pakistan from 2014 to 2015. He has attended numerous expositions, seminars and workshops within and outside Nigeria.

APPOINTMENTS HELD

3. AVM Oahimire has held several appointments in various units/establishments spanning field and staff appointments. These include Engineering Officer, Commanding Officer and Commander, 131 Engineering Group Makurdi and was Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies at Air Force Institute of Technology. He was also Chief of Staff at the Headquarters Air Training Command and Mobility Command. At the Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, apart from serving as Assistant Directors, he also was Deputy Director Air Engineering and Director Museum and Archives. Other sundry appointments include Force Communications Officer, United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone. He was Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Aeronautical Engineering and Technical Services Limited. Until current appointment as Chief of Aircraft Engineering, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, he was the Director Space Utilization, Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

MARITAL STATUS AND HOBBIES

4. AVM Oahimire is married and blessed with children. He enjoys reading, Christian worship, mentoring, travelling and playing table tennis.
