Air Marshal Adesola Nunayon Amosu was born in Lagos on 01 August 1958. He attended Ladilak Primary School, Lagos and Apostolic Grammar School, where he obtained his School Certificate. He was admitted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of the 25 Regular Course on 3 January 1979, and was commissioned pilot officer on 3 July 1981. He was promoted to the rank Air Vice Marshal on 3 July 2010.
Air Marshal Amosu started his flying career at 301 Flying Training School Kaduna. He proceeded to 303 Flying Training School Kano for his Basic Flying Training. He was thereafter deployed to the 99 Air Combat Training Group Kainji for type-rating on the Alpha-Jet aircraft. The senior officer attended both the Junior and Senior Command and Staff Courses at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji. Thereafter, he attended the prestigious National War College, Nigeria and later went to University of Ibadan where he obtained Master of Science degree in Strategic Studies.
Air Marshal Amosu has held several Command and Staff appointments. These include, Safety Officer at 81 Air Maritime Group Benin, Wing Chief Operations Officer and Fleet Operations Officer both at the 101 Presidential Air Fleet, Abuja. Subsequently he became the Commander 101 Presidential Air Fleet. He was the Director of Operations, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force and later appointed Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command. He was appointed the 19th Chief of the Air Staff on 16 Jan 2014. Air Marshal Amosu is a seasoned pilot with over 6,200 flying hours on several Nigerian Air Force aircraft. Some of the aircraft flown include the Alpha-Jet, Dornier 128-6, Dornier 228, Falcon 900 and Gulfstream 5 airplanes.

Air Marshal Amosu is happily married to Mrs Omolara Amosu and they are blessed with 4 children.
His hobbies are swimming, video editing and playing golf.
